ANGELZ DEMONS

Salutations, Reader.
This past summer, I announced that I would start production on Comics & Cards in the fourth quarter of this year. As I am writing this, we are one week away from reaching that milestone. Therefore, I feel the need to say a few words about “Angelz Demons,” an earlier side project and working title. Originally intended as the title for a Graphiti Book, it grew into the core concept behind the Mega War Game.

Before we delve deeper and uncover the secret behind Angelz Demons, let us first address another fact. StarArena® The Card Game has always operated on a Print-and-Play structure because it has been under-development since the last millennium. In the very early days, game play-testing was available on weekly evenings at Studio TBH-Q and on weekends at Vandal-Comx. Later, the game-cards became available via email and with the construction of the Card-Factory, for anybody with an internet connection!

The point here is that since the cards were sleeved after being cut by fellow hobbyists, nobody printed the Card-Backs. “So, they were merely a formality and barely existed until a design upgrade was needed to visualize the Booster-Packs!”

‘Angelz Demons’ & The Mega War!

Now that ‘Angelz Demons Book’ was never made because the publisher did not want to risk investing during a period of recession. But it did hold true to its subtitle: A Book of Changes.

After investing time in the Book’s story structure, it made me approach the game’s storyline and design in another way. If anything, this writer’s journey confirms the saying: “Rome was not built in a day” and “Overnight success is nonexistent.”

Now that the Story Design is where the author wants it, he is happy to let it unfold on paper. From here on out, it is “Lean-In and Draw Comics & Cards.” Before, all game cards came from one stack, but over time, as the game progressed, they were split in two. For as long as I can remember, the two opposing game decks were Arena and Demon cards.

• Arena-Cards are typical Heroes and Warriors competing in the Tournament.
• Demon-Cards are Evil Bastards! Super-Villains!! Invaders & RAM-Raiders!!!

With the next milestone in sight, it was time to design and define the Card Back & Booster for the opposing game deck. I hereby present to you the ferocious: Demon-Army.

*In a few days, as the season turns from Summer to Autumn in the fourth quarter, your humble narrator will embark on a quest that will most likely take him the remainder of his life: to create opposing game decks that correspond to his types of days, bad and worse – Angels & Demons.
