Straight out the gate in Notebook #1, concept sketches are done for the Battle Classes. These were initially intended as Info graphics on the game cards. But with a whole lot of persistence and determination they made their debut on the Battle Grid as playable game pieces.
On the Game Board you see above, the Junior Creator (My Son) and Me played our first test games on our quest to invent a new Chess variant. We soon got bored, deciding we wanted more Bang for our Buck and at first added the Cannon to our Game Arsenal! …From there on out;
Begins a turbulent time of Game development and prototyping towards creating Arcade Chess!

The Classic Formation
So much for keeping it short, but the reason that the Classic formation is not the standard in Arcade Chess is because of a clash in the story line. Having the Matriarch (Mom) and Patriarch (Dad) as heads of state is not favorable to the Story Design. Accompanied by the fact that the titles are not gender neutral. Therefore all game pieces have been re-baptized in beer as below.
